Muscat: Oman to begin COVID-19 vaccination campaign on Sunday,
In a statement Ministry of Health said: COVID-19 vaccination is reserved for high risk group, a team from MOH will contact them soon.
Initially, vaccines will be prioritizes for high risk group: key healthcare workers, multiple chronic conditions and elderly.
The initial shipment of 15,600 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine arrived in Oman on Thursday, another 28,000 doses are expected to arrive by January 2021.
The Ministry of Health has prepared a strategy for vaccination that covers 60% of the population. It is divided into several stages. The first stage will cover 20% of the targeted percentage due to the limited supply in the current period.
It is noteworthy that the “Pfizer-BioNTech” vaccine, required a second shot to be given 21 days after the first.
