Project to deepen basin of fishing port in Salalah

Salalah: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources has started the implementation of the project to deepen the entrance and basin of the fishing port of Raysut in Salalah, at a total cost of OMR 1,212,600.

The project includes extracting about 400,000 cubic meters of sedimented sand and transporting it to sites affected by beach erosion, in coordination with the Environment Agency.

The project aims to facilitate the movement of entry and exit of fishing boats as part of the Ministry’s efforts to provide all facilities and provide a suitable environment for fishermen and sea-goers alike.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources is keen to rehabilitate the fishing ports to meet the requirements and needs of fishermen for various services that facilitate the practice of their profession.

It is worth noting that the sea fishing port of Raysut has an estimated total area of ​​148,000 square meters. It was established in 1998. It contains two breakwaters, the first with a length of 675 meters, and a secondary one with a length of 450 meters, in addition to two floating berths with a length of 36 meters each.
