Muscat: Project to identify suitable sites in Oman for production of renewable energy such as wind and solar energy.
In a statement Oman news agency said: An official source at the Ministry of Energy and Minerals confirmed that the ministry is currently cooperating with the concerned government agencies to identify suitable sites for the production of renewable energy such as wind and solar energy, and direct them to produce green hydrogen.
The source indicated to the Oman News Agency that the locations of the concession areas are likely to start from the state of Duqm in the south, to the Shuwaymiyah area in the state of Shalim and the Al Hallaniyat Islands, to the Wilayat of Thumrait, as one of the promising areas.
He added, “It is expected that the first concession or production sites will be launched before the end of this year, in line with the activities of the hydrogen symposium that will be held in November or December.
Earlier, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik directed on accelerating the procedures for establishing and regulating the green hydrogen sector and adding a general directorate to this important file in the Ministry of Energy and Mining.
