Ramadan 2023 date in Oman: 34 days left for month of fasting

The official date will be announced by Oman authorities closer to the day

Muscat: Ramadan, the holy month of fasting for Muslims around the world, is just around the corner with only 34 days left.

Astronomical calculations conducted by the Department of Astronomical Affairs at the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs showed that the beginning of the blessed month of Ramadan for the Hijri year 1444, will astronomically begin on Thursday, March 23, 2023.

According to the Omani calendar issued by the Ministry, the astronomical calculations that were conducted about sighting the crescent of the month of Ramadan 1444 AH, in the city of Muscat, show the conjunction of the moon at 9:23 pm, on Tuesday 28 Shaaban 1444 AH corresponding to March 21, 2023.  According to astronomical calculations, the investigation of sighting the crescent will be on Wednesday 29 Sha’ban 1444 AH corresponding to March 22, 2023, and it will be as follows:

– Sunset: 6:19 pm.

– Moon going down: 7:07 p.m.

– Duration: 19 minutes after sunset.

– The distance of the moon from the sun: 12 degrees.

– The height of the moon above the horizon: 11 degrees.

– Light intensity: 01.07%.

– Horoscope and status of the moon: Pisces / Rasha.

– Horoscope and status of the Sun: Pisces / the forefront.

The ministry indicated, according to its astronomical calculations, that sighting the crescent is possible, in the case of clear weather, and therefore (God willing), the first day of Ramadan 1444 AH will be on Thursday, corresponding to March 23, 2023.
