Reducing water connection services fees to reduce financial burden on citizens: APSR

Muscat: The Authority for Public Services Regulation confirmed that the royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik- regarding reducing the drinking water connection fees to residential categories, come as an embodiment of the supreme keenness of His Majesty to enhance the provision of services. Dr. Mansour bin Talib Al Hinai, Chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Authority, explained that these royal directives will contribute to alleviating the financial burdens resulting from citizens obtaining this service, noting that they come in light of His Majesty’s interest –  to ensure the care of all groups in a way that achieves the provision of protection. social services for all segments of society, stressing that the Authority will work with the relevant authorities to implement the royal orders and put them into effect.

The Public Services Regulatory Authority indicated that the reduction in water delivery fees will be implemented starting from the first of next February, as the deduction of fee installments will be stopped for those who paid an amount of RO 200  or higher, and there will be no refund of amounts previously paid in excess of that.

The Authority confirmed that subscribers who have not reached the limit of the new fees of 200 Omani riyals will be given the choice between one of two payment methods, either by completing the installments according to the current situation, or the possibility of paying all installments at once. With regard to the drinking water delivery service for non-paid accounts.

Residential (government, industrial, commercial and tourist) fees have been determined according to the building area, as 600 Omani Riyals will be calculated for areas of 500 square meters or less, and for areas where the construction percentage is between 501 square meters and 1000 square metres, the fees charged will be RO 950, while the fees for the specified building area between 1,001 square meters and 2,000 square meters will amount to RO 1,300, and for building areas of more than 2,001 square meters, an amount of RO 1,300 or the actual delivery value will be calculated, whichever is higher.
