Historic Sites in South Al Batinah to Be Developed as Tourism Attractions
Nakhal: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism is pressing ahead with the restoration of castles and towers in South Al Batinah Governorate, as part of efforts to preserve the historical value of heritage landmarks across the governorate’s wilayats and transform them into tourism attractions.
Dr. Al Mutassim Nasser Al Hilali, Director of the Heritage and Tourism Department in South Al Batinah Governorate, told the Oman News Agency (ONA) that restoration and maintenance projects are currently underway at a number of castles, forts, towers, defensive walls and heritage mosques that have strong potential to become key tourism destinations.
He noted that these projects fall within the ministry’s broader strategy to safeguard national heritage, enhance cultural tourism, and support sustainable development in local communities.
