Royal Navy of Oman Marks SAF Day, Retirees Day

Muscat: The Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) today marked the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) Day, which falls on 11 December every year, and the Retirees Day, which falls on 7 December every year.

The ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Khalfan Said Al Shu’aili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning. The celebration took place at Said bin Sultan Naval Base. It began with a military salute to the chief guest.

The RNO band played the Royal Anthem. This was followed by a practical demonstration with the participation of RNO vessels, the maritime reconnaissance aircrafts and the assistance of the Royal Army of Oman (RAO), the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) and the Sultan’s Special Force (SSF).

The celebration reflected the high capabilities and skills possessed by RNO personnel. At the conclusion of the celebration, the chief guest and attendees toured an exhibition held on the sidelines of the ceremony. The exhibition showcased the roles and tasks carried out by the RNO in protecting the homeland and safeguarding its accomplishments.

The event was attended by current commanders of SAF and other military and security units, some members of the State Council, veteran commanders, senior officers, retired RNO servicemen and some invitees.  – ONA
