Royal Office Minister inaugurates Al-Qaryatayn Mosque in Izki

His Excellency Lieutenant General Sultan bin Muhammad al-Nu’mani, Minister of the Royal Office, will patronize tomorrow, Friday, the inauguration of the Al-Qaryatayn Mosque in the Wilayat of Izki in the Governorate of A’Dakhiliyah.

The mosque was built on a total area of ​​about 4,500 square meters and can accommodate more than 2,400 worshipers, where worshipers will perform Friday prayers, marking its opening.

This mosque, which was built with the design, implementation and full supervision of the people of the two villages, is considered a prominent architectural icon in the modern urban sprawl in the state of Izki.

Sheikh Zayed bin Khalifa Al-Rashdi, the deputy of the mosque, said that due to the lack of a large mosque in which Friday prayers are performed in the town of Al-Qaryatayn and which embraces religious and cultural activities, the people of the two villages built this mosque, which took nearly 6 years to build, and was built with governmental contribution from the Diwan of the Royal Court and the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs. And support from the people of Al-Qaryatayn region, and the owners of white hands from the good people, expressing his thanks to everyone who supported and contributed to building the mosque.

He added that the mosque includes an inner hall, an outer edifice, an upper chapel for women, and a ground chapel for women with disabilities.

The Al-Qaryatayn Mosque was designed with architectural elements from the Omani heritage, inspired by the old neighborhood in the Al-Qaryatayn region, mixed with modern architectural elements, and decorated with Omani inscriptions and Quranic verses from the inside.

In the middle of the mosque is a large dome with a diameter of 12 meters, and it has two minarets 35 meters high, with spaces allocated for parking.

The mosque has three large entrances from the south, north and east, where the main entrance is, in addition to the entrance for women. The mosque includes more than 50 ablution places for men and women, and public toilets for men and women.

The mosque will become an architectural icon for the Al-Qaryatayn region in the Wilayat of Izki, which will be overlooked by the visitor from a far place.
