Integrated Tourist Station in Rustaq Showcases Omani Heritage

Integrated Tourist Station Enhances Cultural Tourism in Rustaq

Rustaq:  The “Integrated Tourist Station” initiative in the Wilayat of Rustaq represents a community initiative aimed at highlighting the Sultanate of Oman’s tourism and cultural assets through interactive and modern approaches that promote cultural awareness and support domestic tourism.

The initiative comes within community efforts to invest in the historical and natural landmarks of Rustaq and transform them into an integrated tourism experience that combines knowledge and entertainment for visitors from within and outside the Sultanate of Oman.

The initiative seeks to provide visitors with an interactive experience linked to Omani heritage through a range of activities and programs designed to connect younger generations with their cultural heritage in a modern format that combines authenticity with contemporary presentation methods.

Among the initiative’s main components is the Ain Al Kasfah Museum, located near Ain Al Kasfah spring. The museum documents aspects of traditional Omani life and includes heritage collections such as silver artifacts, swords, daggers, jewellery, copperware, palm frond crafts, old radios, cameras and family heritage chests known as “Sahara”.

The integrated tourist station also offers a heritage studio where visitors can wear traditional Omani attire and take souvenir photographs, in addition to guided tours introducing visitors to the historical and cultural significance of the exhibits.

The initiative further includes a knowledge corner containing books and resources related to heritage and tourism in the Sultanate of Oman.

Khalaf Harith Al Dhahli, founder of the initiative, said that the project was launched out of belief in the importance of preserving and presenting Omani heritage through modern methods that strengthen community awareness and align with the aspirations of younger generations.

He explained in a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA) that the initiative aims to provide visitors to Rustaq with an experience that combines educational and recreational aspects in an interactive setting reflecting details of traditional Omani life.

Al Dhahli added that the initiative organizes heritage exhibitions, participates in national and religious events, launches awareness competitions and arranges tourism tours in cooperation with relevant entities to support tourism and cultural activities.

He noted that the initiative pays particular attention to youth and students through educational and awareness programs that contribute to strengthening understanding of national values and heritage.

He added that the initiative’s location near Ain Al Kasfah enhances its attractiveness by combining natural scenery with cultural experiences, contributing to reinforcing Rustaq’s position as a tourism destination.

Al Dhahli affirmed that the initiative will continue developing its services and expanding its activities in support of tourism development efforts and the preservation of national heritage in the Sultanate of Oman.
