Muscat: Salalah Khareef Season Attracts More Than 810,000 Visitors in 2022, and the value of their spendings amounted to over RO 80 Million
The number of visitors to the Salalah Khareef season 2022 reached nearly 813,00 visitors, an increase compared to the same period last year, which was 767,000 visitors, with a change rate of 6.0%.
Visitors’ nationalities
Omanis constituted 69% of the total number of visitors to the Salalah Khareef season for the year 2022, as their number reached 562,995 visitors.
The number of visitors from the GCC countries reached 161,260 visitors during the same period, up by 24.5% compared to 2019, when they reached 129,519 visitors.
Land and air ports
Statistics issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that 80% of the visitors to Salalah Khareef Season during the year 2022 came through the land port, with a number of 647,301 visitors, an increase of 79.6% compared to those who came through the land port during the same period in 2019, who numbered 610,491 visitors.
In 2022, approximately 165,704 visitors came to the Dhofar Governorate through the air port, an increase of 20.4% over the same period in 2019, which recorded 156,281 visitors.
Flights
The number of domestic flights during the Khareef season of 2022 reached approximately 16,114 flights, while in 2019 it reached approximately 15,198 flights.
The number of international flights during Khareef season of 2022 reached 149,590, an increase compared to 2019, when the number of international flights reached 141,083.
Visitor spending
The expenditure of visitors to the Khareef Salalah season for the year 2022 amounted to approximately RO 86 million, an increase compared to 2019, which was approximately RO 76 million, and the percentage of spending on housing out of the total expenditure of visitors for the year 2022 reached 32%.
