Samail: The Sama’il Industrial City in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate is witnessing the attraction of more local investments and the opening of factories for many economic projects.
Among these projects is the environmentally friendly paper bag manufacturing factory in the Samail Industrial City, which is the first factory specialized in producing paper bags in the Sultanate of Oman.
It aims to provide sustainable and environmentally friendly alternatives to plastic bags in response to increasing environmental awareness and the community’s desire to adopt solutions that preserve the environment.
Salem bin Ahmed Al Busaidi, Executive Director of the Paper Bags Factory, said that the idea of establishing the factory stems from Oman Vision 2040, represented by the sustainable environment axis, which aims to enhance environmental sustainability by providing alternative and environmentally friendly solutions.
He added that the factory aims to reduce the environmental impact by providing biodegradable products made from environmentally friendly raw materials and production techniques that reduce the carbon footprint, in addition to meeting the growing local demand for paper bags, and supporting the green economy and sustainability.
He explained that the factory uses advanced production techniques that contribute to reducing material waste and increasing production efficiency, which makes its products pioneers in environmental quality.
The factory also has specialized laboratories to test the quality of the product at all stages of manufacturing to ensure its compliance with international standards, as the production process begins with the selection of environmentally friendly raw materials followed by precise manufacturing steps that take into account the highest quality standards.
He explained that the factory has obtained patents for innovative designs and manufacturing methods that contribute to reducing resource and energy consumption, enhancing efficiency and reducing costs, as they allow for savings in raw materials and accelerating production times, which gives the factory a significant competitive advantage in the market.
He pointed out that the factory’s annual production reached 14 million units to meet the increasing local demand after the ban on plastic bags, as the factory intensified production and added new production lines to ensure meeting the local market.
The factory is keen to conduct continuous market studies to ensure the provision of products that meet customer needs and suit the increasing demand.
It is worth noting that the paper bags factory is one of the factories supervised by the Small and Medium Enterprises Authority and aspires to expand and increase production lines, with the introduction of new products that enhance its position in the local and global markets.
The factory also seeks to develop modern technologies and establish partnerships with local and international institutions, to support innovation and provide advanced environmental solutions that contribute to enhancing environmental sustainability.
