Sayyid Theyazin presides over Annual Horse Race in Al Buraimi

Al Buraimi: Assigned by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said today presided over the annual horse race of the Royal Cavalry in the Wilayat of Al Buraimi. The race was organized by the Royal Court Affairs, represented by the Royal Cavalry.

Ridden by cavalryman Amer Ali Al Rasbi, a horse named “RBBlast Off”, owned by HH Sayyid Saud Harib Al Said, clinched His Majesty the Sultan’s Cup in the 5th round, a 2,000-metre run titled “Hisn Al Khandaq Race” for Arabian thoroughbreds.

The first round, a 1,200 metre-run for Arabian purebreds (Hisn Marjab Race), was dedicated to female horse riders. It was won by a horse called “Al Asbaq”, ridden by Ramla Khalil Al Zadjali.

In the second round, a 1,200 metre-run for Arabian purebreds (Hisn Al-aadhid Race), first place was won by a horse called “RB Kinsman”, owned by HH Sayyid Saud Harib Al Said. The horse was ridden by cavalryman Amer Ali Al Rasbi.

In the third round, a 1,600 metre-run titled “Hisn Al Hilla Race”, a mare called “Futaina” cruised to victory. It was ridden by Mike Y. Forest.

In the fourth round, a 1,600m run for Arabian thoroughbreds (Hisn Bait Annad Race), first place went to a horse called “Jathjat”, owned by Abdullah Ali Al Maamari. The horse was ridden by cavalryman Qais Saif Al Busaidi.

Popular shows were held between the races. These included equestrian skills, Aiyala Ballads, archery, tent pegging, horse musical shows, horse and camel pageants, chanting lyrics and hypnotizing horses.

At the conclusion of the event, HH Sayyid Theyazin handed over the cups and trophies to top winners of the five rounds of the race.

He also accepted a commemorative gift from the Royal Cavalry.

The race was attended by Royal family members, ministers, undersecretaries and a large gathering horse riding lovers. – ONA
