Sea Traditions Committee in Bawshar holds its first Meeting to discuss the Fishermen’s Challenges

Muscat: The Sea Traditions Committee in Bawshar held its first meeting for this year, headed by His Excellency Ahmed bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Bawshar wally and Chairman of the Committee. During the meeting, previous recommendations were reviewed and their implementation was evaluated. Additionally, discussing the topics on the agenda.

The meeting focused on the challenges that faced by fishermen and those involved in fishing-related activities. Violations and contraventions of hunting laws and customs were presented, and emphasizing the necessity of activating the role of fishermen’s representatives in the Sea Traditions Committee

In addition to discussing the necessity of organizing water activities near fishing villages. It aims to achieve a balance between protecting the interests of fishermen and other aquatic practices.

It is worth noting that the Sea Traditions Committee, which is supervised by Bawshar wally’s office in Muscat Governorate, is one of the committees concerned with disputes’ resolution that arise between fishermen. It also presents proposals to protect the marine environment, and to enhance the sustainability of fisheries. As well as, the committee is also working to submit proposals that support fisheries control efforts and assist in their implementation, which would contribute to these resources’ preservation and enhancement.
