Second edition of Al Dakhiliyah International Film Festival kicks off in Al Hamra

Al Hamra: The second edition of the Al Dakhiliyah International Film Festival, organized by the Omani Cinema Society in cooperation with the Office of the Governor of the Interior and several government agencies, was launched this evening at Al Hota Rest House in Al Jabal Al Sharqi in the Wilayat of Al Hamra.

His Excellency Mohammed bin Saeed Al Balushi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information – the sponsor of the occasion – praised the role of the Omani Cinema Society, stressing that this festival reflects the tourism and heritage dimension and the components that the Al Hamra State possesses, and that film preparers and producers will have an artistic imprint due to these components.

Mohammed bin Sulaiman Al Kindi, Director of the Al Dakhiliya Film Festival, said in the opening speech that the festival establishes the role of cinema as the most important educational means locally and internationally, and the aim of establishing this festival is to be one of the building blocks of the cinematic cultural building in the Sultanate of Oman.

The opening ceremony included visual presentations, honoring the festival’s supporters and contributors, and honoring the creators of visual content in the governorate, in addition to the jury committees for the festival’s narrative and documentary films. 46 Arab and international films will compete in the festival over four days, in addition to various artistic and cinematic events.

The Al Dakhiliyah International Film Festival includes screenings of feature films, documentaries, and animated films, in the Al Hamra Heritage Village, a symposium on the importance of the history of money in the Sultanate of Oman, a symposium on cinema and tourism, and a symposium on the history of Bahraini cinema at Misfat Al Abriyyin in the Wilayat of Al Hamra. – ONA
