Second edition of Sohar Festival concludes

Sohar: The activities of second edition of the Sohar Festival which was launched on the 11th January concludes today, in addition to the honorary closing ceremony of the second West Asian Men’s Volleyball Club Championship, under the patronage of His Excellency Abdul Salam bin Mohammed Al Morshedi, Chairman of the Omani Investment Authority.

In the presence of a number of Their Excellencies the governors and members of the State and Shura Councils. His Excellency Mohammed bin Sulaiman Al Kindi, Governor of North Al Batinah and General Supervisor of the Festival, pointed to the success achieved by the festival over its days, with cultural, tourism and entertainment diversity, so that the festival achieves its goals with knowledge, historical and economic richness, embodied in the various activities hosted by the festival.

The number of visitors to the festival reached 300,000 visitors, while the number of small and medium enterprises participating in the festival reached 134, while the 117 productive families participating in the festival achieved revenues amounting to 35,880 Omani riyals. As for the entertainment games, there were 60 games, with revenues amounting to 136,800 Omani riyals. The number of job seekers who worked in the festival reached 185, and the number of supporting companies reached 27.

The closing ceremony of the festival included an operetta whose paintings showcased the traditional, maritime and Bedouin villages that were held at the festival and the accompanying activities related to the festival’s diaries and the interaction of its visitors, in addition to honoring the sports teams of the clubs participating in the second West Asian Men’s Volleyball Club Championship./Al-Omaniya/Haitham Al-Rubaie/ Abdullah Al-Maamari
