North A’Sharqiyah Plants One Million Seeds under ‘Seed of Hope’ Initiative
Al Mudhaibi: The Environment Department in North A’Sharqiyah Governorate today organized an environmental campaign titled “Seed of Hope”, aimed at planting one million seeds across the Wilayat of Al Mudhaibi to mark Oman Environment Day, observed annually on 8 January.
The campaign’s inauguration ceremony was held under the auspices of Sheikh Saud Mohammed Al Hinai, Wali of Al Mudhaibi.
Eng. Said Nasser Al Abdali, Director of the Environment Department in North A’Sharqiyah Governorate, stated that the campaign embodies the Sultanate of Oman’s national commitment to building a healthy, sustainable, and integrated green environment.
He explained that the initiative seeks to restore the natural balance of local ecosystems, enhance the aesthetic appeal of the Wilayat’s natural landscapes, and increase vegetation cover to help stabilize soil and combat environmental degradation.
Al Abdali added that the campaign also contributes to raising environmental awareness among community members and encouraging public participation in preserving natural resources.
In addition to seed planting, the initiative included a tree-pruning campaign at selected sites. This activity aims to improve the health of existing trees, stimulate natural growth, and enhance the overall quality and sustainability of the local ecosystem.
The campaign reflects ongoing national efforts to protect the environment and promote sustainable development in line with Oman’s environmental priorities.
