SEZAD Assigns project to construct and improve internal roads in Duqm 

SEZAD assigned a local company for implementation and improvement of service roads in the commercial district in the Special Economic Zone of Duqm, which has a total length of 13 km.

Engineer Yahya bin Khamis Al-Zadjali, who is in charge of running the work of the Special Economic Zone at Duqm, said: The establishment of the internal roads project for the commercial district in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm is one of the components of the road network within the comprehensive plan for the development of the region, which represents the vital urban development strategy for the zone project until 2030 and a complement to the plans of the General Authority For special economic zones and free zones to provide an integrated road network to create a modern urban environment that attracts investment and stimulates commercial movement in the region.

He added that the project includes internal roads in the commercial district that include 4 kilometers as double roads with two lanes in addition to 9 kilometers as individual internal roads with one lane and a number of traffic lights, and they will be linked with National Road No. 32 and the roads adjacent to the commercial district through a group of outlets to facilitate traffic movement.

The project also includes the implementation of a sewage network to collect and drain liquid waste from existing buildings in the commercial district. In addition to paving the parking spaces for vehicles in the scheme, there is a walkway and a special path for bicycles to serve the residents of the commercial district and neighboring neighborhoods. It also includes a number of facilities that meet the directives of the Special Economic Zone at Duqm to provide the infrastructure to make the commercial district a model neighborhood for smart cities.

He pointed out that the project plan also includes the implementation of paving and improvement works, including the preparation of secondary roads and the construction of car parks for which suitable spaces and places for buses have been allocated, in addition to the establishment of a number of internal intersections and the establishment of a number of barriers and bumps. The company executing the project will supply, install and test the smart street lighting system Along roads and other parking spaces.

Engineer Yahya bin Khamis Al Zadjali explained that, according to the scope of work, the executing company will install smart lighting poles, in addition to equipping a number of outlets designated for charging electric cars and providing communication networks.
