Shinas Port officially celebrates its Operations

MTCIT Celebrates start of Operational Activities of the Shinas Port

Shinas: A ceremony was held today to mark the official launch of operational activities of Shinas Port. The launch was in pursuance of a framework agreement signed in August 2023 by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) and QSS Maritime Company.

The ceremony was held under the auspices of Mohammed Sulaiman Al Kindi, Governor of North Al Batinah. Eng. Khamis Mohammed Al Shammakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Transport, said that the Ministry hopes that the agreement will contribute to the development of the local economy.

“The company will work in cooperation with all parties to develop the port and the logistics system, which will reflect positively in generating employment opportunities for jobseekers and provide further opportunities for small and medium-sized companies in the Wilayat” Al Shammakhi added.

The event saw a presentation on the future work plan at Shinas Port, which includes expanding the port’s basin and logistics services for ships, establishing a dock for containers, facilitating import and export operations, setting up a hotel and developing veterinary quarantine sites, among other facilities. – ONA
