Muscat: The Shura Council office held its sixth periodic meeting for the second annual session (2020-2021) from the ninth period (2019-2023), whereby the office authorized the formation of a fact-finding committee on the water and electricity sectors, in order for the request to be completed formally and objectively, taking into account the principle of complementarity and compatibility with Report of the Economic and Financial Committee on redirecting electricity and water subsidies.
The office discussed the message of the Economic and Financial Committee on the topic of the themes of “Oman Vision 2040”, the letter submitted by a number of citizens, including a proposal to convert the Nizwa Applied College into a College of Education, and the parliamentary question related to granting an end-of-service bonus to the insured persons who have completed five years and more, despite no proof of disability, As well as the parliamentary question regarding the Liwa Plastic Industries Complex, which included inquiries about when the complex will be operational and the extent of the consequential losses due to the delay in operation, and the parliamentary question about the possibility of reconsidering the opening of applications for changing land use to be throughout the year.
