Sixth edition of Oman Forum for Partnership, Social Responsibility 2023 Begins

Muscat: The sixth edition of Oman Forum for Partnership and Social Responsibility 2023 was opened today under the patronage of HH Sayyeda Hujaija Jaifar Al Said.

The forum was held under the title “Towards an Integrated Framework for Planning and Responsibility”.

Hatim Hamad Al Ta’ei, Secretary General of Oman Forum for Partnership and Social Responsibility, emphasized that the forum demonstrated the strategies and foundations of partnership between the public and private sectors, projects related to social responsibility, and the efforts made to maximize the returns of social investment, whether for companies or local communities.

Dr. Ali Abdullah Al Ibrahim, Vice President of Regional Network for Social Responsibility, said in a speech that social responsibility projects and initiatives for companies and institutions are not charitable work that is undisciplined or undefined. Rather, he affirmed, it is a work that contributes to maximizing the social impact, and it must be ethically and professionally disciplined.

The forum’s activities included the launch of the fourth edition of the partnership signing platform and the signing of 3 social responsibility initiatives, namely an initiative to support the Al Wafa Center in the Wilayat of Dama and Al Ta’eein, an initiative to distribute 10,000 Ramadan parcels to insolvent families, and the “Enrichment of Arabic Sign Content” initiative, which aims to review visual content rendered for persons with hearing impairment, development of trainers, and filming of sign subtitles, in addition to montage of video clips with sign subtitles.

The first theme of the forum was entitled “Socially Responsible Investment Governance”, while the second theme was titled “Towards an Integrated Framework to Overcome Challenges and Meet Aspirations”.

The forum explored mechanisms to enable the principles of governance in the corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the Sultanate of Oman. The step aims to create an integrated system in which higher levels of benefit from social investments are achieved, whether at the level of ensuring an effective framework for planning and responsibility, or transparency and fairness of distribution. Such frameworks should constitute basic criteria and reference that guarantee community investment keeping pace with aspirations of constructive partnership between all, and characterized by equal and balanced participation with government efforts to meet the priorities of the present and future making. -ONA
