SME’s Authority announces registration for ‘on-the-job training’ initiative opened


Muscat: The Small and Medium Enterprises Authority announced the opening of registration for the third edition of the “on-the-job training” initiative, in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor.

This is in an effort to provide cost-supported national competencies from job seekers, through their entry into specialized on-the-job training programmes. The initiative targets small and medium enterprises whose sustainable growth requires strengthening their human resources in various disciplines.

Job seekers registered with the Ministry of Labor will be selected, or according to the institution’s nomination for whom it deems appropriate and according to its fulfillment of the specified conditions. The trainee contract will be registered by the institution in the Ministry’s system. Work, and the General Authority for Social Insurance.

It is worth noting that the total number of approvals for training opportunities issued by the Ministry of Labor in the first edition of the initiative in 2021 amounted to 3,236 training opportunities, while approvals for training opportunities reached 3,000 in the second edition in 2022, and more than 1,171 small and medium enterprises in various sectors benefited from them.
