Sohar Flour Mills Inaugurates Grain Storage Silos at a cost of OMR 21 million

Sohar: Sohar Flour Mills, one of the investments of Oman Flour Mills, today celebrated the inauguration of grain storage silos at Sohar Industrial Port. The cost of the project stood at RO 21 million and with a storage capacity that reaches 160,000 MT.

The inauguration ceremony was held under the auspices of Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion.

The project is considered as one of the strategic national projects that aim at bolstering the capability for reserving grain to ensure the availability of sufficient quantities to cover local consumption for long periods.

Al Yousef said that the inauguration of these projects comes within the framework of the attention accorded by the Sultanate of Oman’s government to the food security sector. He pointed out that the project will contribute to addressing the impacts of international economic instabilities.

Haitham Al Sa’adi, Chairman of Sohar Flour Mills, said that the grain storage silos project at Sohar Industrial Port constitutes a qualitative addition to the food security system in the Sultanate of Oman. It is part of the commitments of Oman Flour Mills to contribute to strengthening food security and securing strategic reserves in the country.

Al Sa’adi added that the importance of this national project grows in accordance with the geopolitical conditions in the world that affected supply chains in general and the grain supplies in particular. Accordingly, this project contributes to securing the strategic stock of grain in Oman. – ONA
