MAFWR completes second phase of Sohar Logistics Station project
Muscat: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MAFWR) has completed the second phase of the development and expansion project of the commercial building at Sohar Logistics Station, with the aim of accommodating a larger number of laboratories that examine samples of incoming and outgoing shipments.
Khalil bin Abdullah Al Balushi, General Manager of Land Ports and Business Development at Al Madinah Logistics Services Company, explained that the total area of the station is 40,000 square meters, and the available areas in the current expansion of the commercial building for the second phase are 1,150 square meters, and the areas currently used in the existing commercial building are 1,210 square meters, so that the total areas after the expansion will be 2,360 square meters, explaining: The areas will be used for the new expansion to include analytical laboratories that provide sample examination services, customs clearance offices, and land transportation and shipping offices.
Al Balushi pointed out that the number of transactions completed at the station during the period from January to the end of August of this year amounted to more than 58 thousand transactions, including the examination of exports and imports to and from the Sultanate of Oman of fish, agricultural, food and animal products, stressing that the new expansion project by adding new laboratories will enhance the speed of sample examination and provide additional job opportunities for citizens in technical and other specializations.
It is worth noting that Sohar Logistics Station contributes to supporting and enhancing the inspection of imported and exported products, which contributes to increasing global markets for national products and raising the quality and safety of food products and others.
