Sohar Winter activities begins

Sohar: The “Sohar Winter” activities, organized by a number of government institutions and the private sector, began today in the Wilayat of Sohar in the Al Batinah North Governorate, and will continue until February 4.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Muhammad Al Balushi, Deputy Wali of Sohar and Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the “Sohar Winter” events, explained that the events are held in the Sohar market and last for two weeks, targeting all segments of society, indicating that the organizing committee has drawn up a schedule of events that includes more than 45 various activities. He added that the cultural activities in “Sohar Winter” include poetic, literary and historical evenings distributed over the days of the events, in addition to the main cultural competition, and a review of a number of folk arts such as the art of Al-Azi and sword fencing, as well as the activities of the Bedouin tent, which includes a number of heritage holdings of Bedouin life. The Chairman of the Organizing Committee pointed out that the “Sohar Winter” activities aim to create a cultural and recreational space for citizens and residents of Sohar, and visitors to the state during this period of the year, in addition to highlighting the tourism importance of Souk Souk, which is characterized by its view of the sea street in the center of the state, and its contents. The committee also seeks, through these events, to introduce Omani productive families in the wilayat, to market them and to introduce their products by setting up their own shopping corners.
