SQU students win Third Place in Petrocup World Student Olympics 2022

Muscat: Sultan Qaboos University students win the third place globally in the 2022 PetroCup World Student Olympics, which is organized annually by the Russian NAFTA University for oil and gas engineering students. The competition aims to develop an oil field to increase production for five consecutive years through a simulation program. reality, while students developing’ petroleum concepts and testing their abilities to analyze data and make decisions based on their understanding of the subjects of their specialization.

The PetroCup World Student Olympics finals took place on November 29-30 2022. The finals featured teams from 10 oil and gas universities from Russia, the Middle East, South Asia, and Africa.

This competition consists of two phases. The first is held regionally, after which qualified universities from each region are selected to compete globally. Each team consists of 10 students. Students from the Department of Petroleum and Chemistry Engineering at the College of Engineering at the university have qualified globally.

The team includes Rowa bint Yahya Al-Amriya, Aisha bint Muhammad Al-Fadhlia, Aisha bint Abdullah Al-Zaabiyya, Marwa bint Hamdan Al-Surayhiya, Zayana bint Salem Al-Busaidi, Mahmoud bin Hamad Al-Busaidi, Ibrahim bin Farid Al-Mahrouqi, Imran bin Khamis Al-Balushi, Hamad bin Muhammad Al-Fahdi, Ali Bin Nasser Al-Nizwani.
