Oman’s State Council Chairman participates in the 19th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in Uganda
Kampala: Based on the royal mandate of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, His Excellency Sheikh Abdulmalik bin Abdullah Al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council, today headed the delegation of the Sultanate of Oman to the “Nineteenth Summit of Leaders of States and Governments of the Non-Aligned Movement.” Which began its work today in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, and more than 148 leaders of countries and governments, as well as heads of international organizations, participate in it.
His Excellency conveyed the greetings of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq the Great – may God protect and protect him – and his sincere prayers for success and success for this summit. In his speech during the conference, His Excellency affirmed the Sultanate of Oman’s continued commitment to the principle of peaceful settlement of disputes in all parts of the globe on the basis of the rules of international law and the Charter of the United Nations in order to achieve justice, harmony, security and peace for all.
His Excellency added that the Sultanate of Oman affirms in this regard its firm support for the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, leading to the establishment of their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and the borders of June 4, 1967.
His Excellency called on the international community to carry out its duties in ensuring international peace and security, to stop the continuation of Israel’s brutal aggression against the Gaza Strip and its ongoing massacres in the occupied Palestinian territories, and to hold it accountable for its flagrant violations of international law and international humanitarian law.
His Excellency stated that choosing the title of the summit, “Deepening cooperation for shared global prosperity,” reflects a comprehensive vision for sustainable development and progress in various fields to ensure the well-being of people.
His Excellency affirmed that the Sultanate of Oman is proceeding with its continuous development plans for this lofty goal, the sustainability of the quality of life and the well-being of the individual and society, and its call to strengthen international cooperation and joint commitment to achieve a balance that reconciles the various development and environmental requirements in a way that ensures sustainability for current and future generations and at the same time strengthens collective capabilities. To face the regional and global challenges of the era and the various vicissitudes of life.
His Excellency also stressed that the Sultanate of Oman realizes the importance of cooperation in building partnerships, scientific research, development and exchanging experiences to achieve solidarity and social justice, and that holding this summit of the Non-Aligned Movement countries comes to discuss various issues of concern to the peoples of the world.
His Excellency said that we live in a world facing major political, security, economic, environmental and climate challenges, calling for cooperation and positive interaction in addressing these common challenges, and working in the spirit of open and constructive dialogue, for the sake of a more just and peaceful world. The “Nineteenth Summit of Leaders of States and Governments of the Non-Aligned Movement” discusses the importance of economic cooperation among the member states of the Movement, in addition to enhancing cooperation between them in areas related to energy security, the environment, health care, labor, and promoting the interests of member states.
