Barkaa: The preliminary qualifiers for the 32nd Sultan Qaboos Holy Quran Competition, organised by the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science at the Diwan of Royal Court, began today in the Wilayat of Barka in the South Al Batinah Governorate, with the participation of (64) male and female contestants who have memorised the Holy Quran at various levels of the competition.
The competition includes several levels: “The first is memorizing the entire Holy Quran, the second level is memorizing (24) consecutive parts, the third level is memorizing (18) consecutive parts, the fourth level is memorizing (12) consecutive parts for those aged (25) years and under, the fifth level is memorizing (6) consecutive parts for those aged (14) years and under, the sixth level is memorizing (4) consecutive parts for those aged (10) years and under, while the seventh level is memorizing two consecutive parts for those aged (7) years and under.
Dr. Saeed bin Hamid Al-Dhuwayani, Deputy Chairman of the Preliminary and Final Qualifying Committee for the Sultan Qaboos Holy Quran Competition, said that the competition aims to encourage young men and women to memorize the Book of Allah Almighty, master its recitation, intonation, and read it correctly, so that they may be bearers of the Book of Allah Almighty.
Al-Dhuwayani added that the competition also aims to find skilled reciters of the Holy Quran who are proficient in its performance, and to enhance the presence of the Sultanate of Oman in international Quranic competitions, noting that the number of participants in the current version reached (1790) male and female contestants.
