

Muscat: Sultan Qaboos University and the Oman LNG Development Corporation signed an agreement to fund the project of research programs to empower people with disabilities, and this comes as a continuation of the fruitful and constructive approach of cooperation between Sultan Qaboos University, represented in this agreement by its research centers, and the development institution of the Oman LNG. It is consistent with the endeavors to reach a sustainable and solid development that ensures a prosperous future for members of society and its various sectors, characterized by sustainability and progress, and in a manner that ensures the effective contribution of scientific research and innovation to the growth and development of all sectors and groups of society.
The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Ali bin Hwishel Al-Shuaili, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, and Dr. Amer bin Nasser Al-Mataani, CEO of the Development Corporation of Oman LNG.
Dr. Majid Al-Busafi, Director of the Human Research Center, said: “This agreement comes to confirm the university’s pioneering role in activating and supporting scientific research in general, especially research related to empowering people with disabilities. The center has always sought to strengthen partnership and effective communication with institutions wishing to support scientific research. And innovation, and this communication resulted in the signing of several partnerships, among them this cooperation with the development foundation of the Oman LNG, which is an institution that has always been supported in finding solutions to societal issues, and believes in the importance of scientific research and innovation and their role in offering practical solutions to societal issues.
This agreement with the efforts of private sector institutions in the social welfare of people with disabilities, and consolidating the role of private sector institutions in sponsoring research and innovative ideas. This agreement will help support research and innovation in software, computer applications, programs and curricula for people with disabilities, and study and formulate laws and regulations to ensure The rights of people with disabilities, and this agreement supports research in the study of diseases related to the category of people with disabilities Disability; This facilitates their life requirements and other topics that researchers at the university and outside it can contribute.
Dr. Majid added: “The Humanitarian Research Center has many partnerships with public and private institutions inside and outside the Sultanate to support research and innovation activities in the educational, social, economic and legal fields.
