Oman Marks World Amateur Radio Day 2026

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman joined countries worldwide today in marking World Amateur Radio Day, observed annually on 18 April, commemorating the founding of the International Amateur Radio Union.

The occasion highlights the role of amateur radio operators in enhancing communication, supporting community initiatives and contributing to awareness, training and emergency response efforts.

It also underscores the importance of this technical field in developing national capabilities and advancing skills in communications and modern technologies, while promoting cooperation among enthusiasts at both local and international levels.

The Royal Oman Amateur Radio Society continues its efforts to promote the culture of amateur radio, encourage participation and strengthen Oman’s presence in regional and international forums related to the field.

The Society, established by Royal Decree No. (2/93), is the national body responsible for regulating and developing amateur radio activities in the Sultanate of Oman.
