Sultanate Participates in WHO 150th Executive Board Meeting

Muscat: The Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Health (MOH) is participating in the 150th session of the Executive Board of the World Health Organization, commenced on Monday to 19th January in Switzerland using a hybrid format.

H E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohamed Al-Saidi, Minister of Health represented the Sultanate at the EB150, along with the virtual participation of Ministry’s undersecretaries and senior officials.

The agenda was adopted followed by the Director General report. Outcome of the special session of the World Health Assembly to consider developing a WHO convention, agreement or other international instrument on pandemic preparedness and response was reviewed in addition to report of the regional committees to the Executive Board. The EB150 addresses the political declaration of the third high-level meeting of the General Assembly on the prevention and control of non-communicable disease.

During six days, the meeting will be discussing number of administrative, financial, and regulatory works including the global health sector strategies on HIV, viral hepatitis and sexually transmitted infections, and the global strategy for tuberculosis research and innovation.

In this meeting, it is hoped that global health for peace initiative (GHP) jointly developed by Oman and Switzerland, will be endorsed.
