Third Taqah Agricultural Forum Supports Food Security and Sustainability

Taqah Agricultural Forum Wraps Up with Focus on Food Security

Taqah: The third Agricultural Forum in the Wilayat of Taqah concluded today, highlighting efforts to support food security and sustainable development in the Governorate of Dhofar.

The forum was organised by the Office of the Wali of Taqah in cooperation with the Directorate General of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources, with the participation of several government and private entities.

Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mashani, a specialist at the Office of the Wali of Taqah, said that the forum reflects continued attention to the agricultural sector and its role in supporting the national economy and enhancing self-sufficiency.

He stressed the importance of exchanging expertise, reviewing initiatives and addressing challenges facing the sector.

The forum featured dialogue sessions and workshops covering various agricultural topics, alongside an exhibition showcasing local agricultural and livestock products.

It also included awareness lectures targeting students, livestock breeders and beekeepers, focusing on modern agricultural practices, bio-production and efficient water resource management.

Competitions were organised to encourage innovation and promote local production.

At the conclusion of the forum, Sheikh Tariq bin Khalid Al Hinai, Wali of Taqah, honoured participants and winners.

The forum aimed to promote home and seasonal agriculture, encourage youth investment in the sector and increase vegetation cover, while making use of Dhofar’s khareef season for cultivating seasonal crops.
