Muscat (ONA): The Tax Authority has called upon taxpayers to submit their declarations on Income tax for outstanding periods by 20 December 2021, at the latest, via electronic portals in accordance with the designated forms.
The Tax Authority pointed out that the entities whose operations are governed by income-tax terms and conditions have an obligation to submit their income tax reports so that they could be entitled either for paying 3% or for waiving of this percentage, if they meet the conditions.
The Tax Authority explained that the Tax Law deems deliberate abstinence from submitting declaration a crime punishable by imprisonment of not less than three months and not exceeding 6 months, in addition to a fine ranging between RO 500 and RO 20,000 or either of the two penalties. This penalty does not absolve the offender of the administrative penalty, which involves a fine against a non-abiding taxpayers ranging between RO 100 and RO 2,000.
