Muscat: The General Secretariat of the Tender Board has launched the mandatory list to support the local product in coordination with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, in which it obliges contractors with the government agency to purchase the products and services mentioned in the list from national factories or local suppliers, and the list will be included in all government tenders and procurement.
During a ceremony a number of programs and initiatives for local content organized by the General Secretariat of the Tender Board today at the Diplomatic Club in Muscat, under the auspices of His Excellency Qais bin Muhammad Al-Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion.
The Municipality launched the “Maeen” program to support small and medium enterprises by providing training and continuing education for business owners, which enhances the level of efficiency and working skills through a mentoring program that connects experts directly with business owners for advice and guidance in the business sector.
The General Secretariat of the Tender Board also signed 3 agreements and cooperation programs. The first agreement came with the National Employment Program, the Ministry of Labor, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority and the Muscat Municipality. It is a cooperation program to establish small and medium companies that provide periodic maintenance services for government vehicles.
As for the second agreement, it was signed with the “Invest in Oman Hall” to localize investment opportunities and local industries and to provide all facilities, services and incentives to investors.
The signing of the third agreement, which is financing, came with Bank Dhofar to facilitate financing procedures for self-employed owners who have registered commercial records to facilitate their benefit from government tenders and purchases offered through the “Isnad” platform.
