Tender for the restoration of House of Wonders in Zanzibar awarded

Muscat: A tender for the restoration of the House of Wonders was awarded as part of a programme undertaken by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism to renovate historical monuments related to Omani architectural heritage in Zanzibar.

The tender award ceremony was attended by Salim Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, the Consul General of Oman in Zanzibar, the Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to Oman, and the Secretary of the National Committee for Education, Culture and Science.

An agreement to this effect was signed by Eng. Ibrahim Said Al Kharousi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Heritage, and Mohammed Semay Saeed, Minister of Tourism and Heritage in Zanzibar.

The tender was awarded within the context of restoration works undertaken after a partial collapse of the monument. It was concluded in coordination with the Government of Zanzibar and the UNESCO World Heritage Centre.
