Muscat: The three-day awareness campaign, “HEMA Masirah,” organized by the Consumer Protection Department in South Sharqiya Governorate, will commence on Monday morning, March 4, 2024.

The campaign is being held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Abdullah Abdul Wali Baawain, the Wali of Masirah.

The primary objective of the campaign is to create an effective partnership between the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) and the local community, as well as its various institutions.

The campaign aims to educate consumers about their rights and responsibilities as outlined in the Consumer Protection Law, along with its executive regulations and amendments. Additionally, it seeks to familiarize them with goods that are prohibited from sale and circulation, as well as misleading advertisements and strategies to combat them.

Throughout the campaign, consumers will also be introduced to the unified Gulf Anti-Commercial Fraud Law and informed about the procedures for submitting complaints and reports, among other consumer-related concerns. Several events are planned as part of the campaign. One of them is a lecture titled “Consumer Protection Authority – Efforts and Challenges,” which will be held at Masirah Air Base.

There will also be a workshop targeting members of the Omani Woman Association in Masirah. Furthermore, various activities and events will be organized specifically for students in Masirah schools, focusing on both the first and second cycles.

Finally, the campaign will conclude with a closing ceremony, featuring a panel discussion on online shopping, as well as an exhibition showcasing models of counterfeit, fake, and prohibited goods.
