Traditional Horse Sports Festival in Al Mudhaibi

Al-Mudhaibi: A traditional horse sports festival was held in the Wilayat of Al-Mudhaibi in the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate today, organized by the horse committee in the state and in cooperation with the Oman Equestrian Federation, with the participation of more than 110 horses from various states of the Sultanate of Oman.

The event was sponsored by His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Ali bin Ahmed Al Shamsi, Governor of North A’Sharqiyah, His Excellency Sheikh Saud bin Muhammad Al Hinai, Wali Al Mudhaibi, a number of their Excellencies, and a large gathering of traditional horse sports lovers in the Sultanate of Oman and abroad.

The festival, which was held at the Al Mughairat Racetrack in the Wilayat of Al Mudhaibi, included an Ardha run, a race, show jumping, picking up stakes with a sword, throwing a bow and arrow, hypnosis of horses, challenges, excitement and equestrian skills, presentation of horse arts such as Hempel and horseback riding, presentation of Omani singing and paragliding shows. In addition to the opening of a corner for traditional handicrafts for horse adornment and accessories, and a corner for the Omani Women’s Association in Al-Mudhaibi.

In a statement to the Omani News Agency, His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs praised the efforts of horse committees in the various wilayats of the Sultanate of Oman to hold traditional horse sports festivals due to the importance of these sports in introducing the Omani heritage of horse breeding and training.

At the end of the festival, His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs, sponsor of the occasion, honored the participants and the organizing committees.
