Two global poetry champions from Kolkata honoured in Oman

Muscat: Two leading poets from Kolkata city in India, Author Ipsita Ganguli and Author Priyanka Banerjee were spectacularly honoured in Sultanate of Oman by Motivational Strips, Akbar Group, Best Western Premier, Speedy Enterprises and Raysut United Development LLC.

It was for the first time in history of world poetry that a group of leading corporates had partnered with Motivational Strips to sponsor a mammoth global poetry contest. Motivational Strips is the world’s most active writers forum with participation of poets and writers from 197 countries. The monthly impressions to this forum crosses 7.5 million every month.

Ipsita and Priyanka had won the rendition category in Be A Star poetry contest conducted by Motivational Strips. The results of this contest was announced last month by former Sahitya Akademi secretary and present Kerala Sahitya Akademi President, K Satchidanandan and Rupa Publishing, Calcutta’s Managing Partner Mr Raju Barman.

Both these Indian Poets owing to winning the exceptionally challenging contest were invited and hosted in Oman by Motivational Strips and the event sponsors. They were subsequently given a grand felicitation at Best Western Hotel on Sunday. The poets were handed over extravagant mementos, crystal accolades,custom made souvenirs and gifts by the event sponsors.

Notable guests to the event was Sheikh Said Ahmed Al Mashikhi, Managing Director of Raysut United Development LLC, a leading company into import of gold and frankincense, Mr Abdul Samad, General Manager of Best Western Hotel Premier, Mr Shakthi Prasad Jayadev , Managing Director of Speedy Enterprises, representatives from Akbar group Ranjith Korangotu from Akbar Group, Ajay Rishi of silver line Shipping and trading, Mr Saril Mohan and Mr Muhammed Shoaib, Operations and Finance head of Speedy Enterprises, Oman The founder and president of Motivational Strips, Shiju H Pallithazheth stated that it wasn’t an easy feat for these poets to compete with 102 countries and win this mammoth poetry championship. Shiju H Pallithazheth thanked the corporate sponsors of the event for having extended exceptional support to empower world poetry.

Be A Star Poetry contest has been one of the most competent contest in history of world poetry owing to its stringent evaluation criteria.

Most of the leading poets from across the world had participated in this contest and thus considered to be the most coveted award in history of world poetry.

Sheikh Said Al Mashikhi stated ‘Oman and Middle East in general have always respected poetry being a divine art. Sheikh Said also added that Oman would be happy to welcome similar talented poets in the coming years.

Best Western Premier GM Abdul Samad said that their hotel group would be glad to host more poetry champions in future by working jointly with Motivational Strips.

Speedy Enterprises Managing Director Shakthy Prasad said that their organization have always respected literary talents and would be more happy to host such patrons of literature. Ajay Rishi said that he is looking forward to see more poets making as winners in such contests.
