UN Special Envoy for Yemen Meets Oman’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations

New York: Hans Grundberg, UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy to Yemen held a meeting in New York today with Dr. Mohammed Awad Al Hassan, the Sultanate of Oman’s Permanent Representative to the UN.

During the meeting, held at the headquarters of the Permanent Delegation of the Sultanate of Oman to the UN, Grundberg expressed the United Nations’ gratitude to Oman for its role in supporting efforts to accomplish a lasting peace and stability in the Republic of Yemen.

Grundberg pointed out that Omani efforts are indispensable to the international community, since Oman emphasizes the unity and stability of Yemen and the country’s establishing strong and peaceful relations with neighboring countries.

The UN special envoy also expressed his optimism about the possibility of progress in the Oman-led peace negotiation process aimed at restoring security and stability in Yemen.

The meeting was attended by members of the Office of the UN Special Envoy for Yemen and Khalid Saleh Al Rabkhi, Deputy to the Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman’s to the UN in New York.
