Muscat: The Unified Admission Centre at the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation announced today the start of registration for the vacant study programmes for the second sorting for the academic year 2024/2025, which will continue until Sunday, November 10.

The center stated that students of the 2023/2024 academic year who are not registered in the system at all are entitled to apply for the second sorting vacancies, as well as those who have previously registered but have not obtained a study seat previously, and those who obtained a study seat but have not completed the registration procedures for it, or those who have withdrawn from the study seats they obtained, noting that students who have obtained a study seat and completed the registration procedures are not entitled to compete in the second sorting.

The center indicated that the student guide appendix for the academic year 2024/2025 for enrollment in higher education institutions (vacancies for study programs for the second sorting stage) on the website contains all study opportunities and their details available for the second sorting, the number of which is (3416), which were vacant due to lack of applicants or the failure of some applicants to accept the study seat offers presented to them.

The center stated that the vacant seats were represented in internal missions and grants, external missions and grants, Sultan Qaboos University, Oman College of Health Sciences, University of Technology and Applied Sciences, vocational colleges, and programs for students with special disabilities. Competition will be available for the Professional Competency Certificate (3) programs in vocational colleges.

The center explained that students can learn about the academic programs they are entitled to register for through their registration page in the unified admission system via the “link to programs that meet the conditions,” and students must arrange their choices of academic programs according to their desire and preference for the programs of higher education institutions and their specializations.

The Unified Admission Center explained that the options included in the previous registration stages do not move to their registration page in the second sorting, so they must add all the study programs they wish to compete for again, even if they registered for them previously.

The center confirmed that in order to compete for Sultan Qaboos University programs, external missions, and health specializations, the student’s competitive average in the program must be equal to or higher than the last accepted competitive average in the first sorting.

It is noteworthy that the Unified Admission Center announced last Thursday the dates for registration and acceptance procedures for the second sorting phase for the academic year 2024/2025, as after the end of the registration period, the names of candidates for the tests for the study programs that require it will be announced, while these tests will be conducted during the period from Wednesday, November 13, until Sunday, November 17, while the evening of Wednesday, November 20, 2024, was set as the date for announcing the results of acceptance for the second sorting for the academic year 2024/2025.
