Muscat: The University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) today organised an international scientific event via video conference titled “Horizons of Advanced Scientific Research through Synchrotron Technologies”.
The event was held in cooperation with the Synchrotron-light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East (SESAME), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and Sohar University.
The programme highlighted recent developments in synchrotron technologies and their applications in scientific and industrial fields, as well as opportunities for research, training, and international cooperation.
Dr. Nasser Salem Al Bimani, UTAS Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Postgraduate Studies, Scientific Research and Innovation, stressed the importance of such initiatives in supporting research and strengthening global partnerships.
Dr. Ghassan Adnan Al Kindi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation at Sohar University, underlined the role of academic cooperation in advancing research capabilities.
The sessions reviewed the role of SESAME in supporting scientific development and explored opportunities to benefit from its research facilities. They also addressed the contributions of the IAEA in supporting synchrotron centres.
Discussions covered projects aimed at enhancing scientific capabilities, linking laboratories with synchrotron technologies, and the use of artificial intelligence in related research fields.
The event brought together researchers, academics, and students, and highlighted the importance of knowledge exchange and the adoption of advanced technologies to support a knowledge-based economy.
