UTAS-Ibra implements more than 120 community programmes

Muscat: The University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Ibra implemented a number of training programs amounting to more than 120 community programs during the academic year 2022/2023 in various scientific disciplines.

These programs came in many areas such as programming and cybersecurity, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence applications, robotics engineering, web application development, and renewable energy.

The university has also set up a number of training programs in the fields of humanities, including courses in refining job interview skills, preparing CVs, communication skills with others, and English language skills.

The programs targeted more than 3,000 male and female participants from various segments of society.

Dr. Youssef bin Khamis Al-Mabsali, Chairman of the Committee and Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs at Ibra Branch, said: “Believing in the importance of the pivotal role that the university assumes regarding the strong relationship with the local community and in response to the increasing demand from some segments of society for a number of workshops and specialized programs, a link has been added that allows all classes of community by proposing appropriate workshops and training courses for them.”

He added: “The university’s community role has expanded in constructive cooperation with the Samail prison administration regarding the implementation of some training workshops for inmates, some of which have actually been implemented, and that the rest of the workshops will be completed during the next academic year, and among other areas of cooperation is coordination with the governor of North Sharqiyah on the implementation A number of community workshops, which are scheduled to be held during the next academic year 2023/2024.
