UTAS-SOHAR launches the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory

Sohar: The University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Sohar in the North Al Batinah Governorate today launched the “Artificial Intelligence Laboratory”, which was developed with support and funding from the Sohar Port and Free Zone Company, and was equipped with the latest technologies to enhance the capabilities of young people in the field of artificial intelligence and technology, which will return For the benefit of students, faculty members, technicians and researchers.

Dr. Saeed bin Hamad Al-Rubaie, President of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, said: The laboratory aims to enrich students’ awareness and knowledge of modern technologies and how to apply them. This will enhance the port’s operations in various areas related to security, efficiency and sustainability.

He added that the initiative provides an educational experience for our students while preparing graduates qualified to deal with the changing industry landscape and able to compete on a global level. The program will focus, through practical education, on technical knowledge, critical thinking, communication skills, and behavioral skills in addition to applied techniques.

For his part, Omar bin Mahmoud Al Mahrezi, CEO of Sohar Free Zone and Executive Vice President of Sohar Port, said: We seek, through this laboratory, to provide an innovative platform for students to develop their skills in artificial intelligence applications and initiatives, and we are confident that these modern technologies will benefit society and various sectors, and enrich… Individuals’ lives by promoting a culture of sustainable innovation.
