Vehicle registrations in Oman rises by 4% to 1.6mln

Number of registered vehicles in Oman increases 4% by December 2023

Muscat: The total number of vehicles registered in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 4 percent to reach 1,667,393 by the end of December 2023 compared to 1,660,803 vehicles at the end of December 2022, according to the data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Private registration vehicles constituted 79.6 percent of the total vehicles registered in Oman to reach 1,326,587 vehicles.

While the Vehicle with capacity 1,500-3,000 cc constituted 54% to reach 902,244, according to NCSI

The statistics showed that the most vehicles come in the color ‘white (comprising 42.7 percent) to reach 712,73. Meanwhile, vehicles in the color ‘purple’ registered the highest increase by 21.6 percent, followed by the color ‘gray’ at 10.9 percent.

Moreover, vehicles with commercial registration constituted 14.7 percent (244,486). Rental cars stood at 33,861 (2%), whole taxi cars stood at 27,881 (1.7%).

As far as vehicles weights are concerned, the number of vehicles weighing less than 3 tons stood 1,510,013, comprising 90.6 percent of the total registered vehicles in the Sultanate of Oman.
