Wadi Al-Saq in the village of Misfat Al-Abriyyin in the Wilayat of Al-Hamra in Al-Dakhiliyah Governorate, is one of the valleys that is full of natural treasures and unique geological formations.
Wadi Al-Saq is a deep groove in the heart of the tall mountains. Fresh water springs flow from its edges, forming lakes between its sides to help it find a unique plant diversity, most of which is the “Al-Mais” tree with fragrant flowers and some other wild plants. There are also geological formations in it among the mountains surrounding the valley. It is an attractive model for adventure lovers and mountain climbers throughout the year.
Mahmoud bin Nasser Al-Fahdi, a tour guide accredited by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, said: “The valley attracts a number of amateurs and lovers of mountain walking and adventure, as a number of residents and volunteers protected the paths and rocky edges in the valley to facilitate the process of entering it, and added some iron chains that facilitate the crossing process.” for the visitor, with an extensive exploratory guide.
He added, in a statement to the Omani News Agency, that “the valley can be reached through the town of Misfat al-Abriyeen, and a path is followed towards the north, where the valley’s course narrows in many locations to the farms area, and it is also possible to reach it through the Casablanca region, which is a population center.” It is about 7 kilometers by car from Misfat al-Abriyeen, then going down to the farms area via a walkway that takes about an hour.
Abd al-Rahman bin Saleh al-Abri, a resident of the town of Misfat al-Abriyin in the Wilayat of al-Hamra, explained that Wadi al-Saq (the farms) is considered one of the important valleys for the residents of the Wilayat of al-Hamra, as it descends from the boundary separating the mountains of the state and the villages of Wadi al-Sahtan of the Wilayat of Rustaq, and the name of the valley differs from one location to another. It was inhabited by some families more than 80 years ago and relied on the agricultural products that grow in it, such as palm trees, mangoes, quince, balling, and grapes, but they have now moved to villages near the center of the state to provide various government services there.
He added that the most important feature that distinguishes the valley is the abundance of water throughout the year, as well as the presence of many stalagmites and stalactites that maintain the flow of water through them and are called locally as “distillations”. Water for a long time, the most important of which are the “Bin Ward” and “Al-Tabli” cores. It is mentioned that the path of Wadi Al-Saq is considered one of the paths of moderate danger, and it requires knowledge, experience and previous preparation to visit it. Because there are some steep places that require caution.
