Wadi Dayqah dam to release 20 million cubic meters from Tomorrow

Muscat: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MAFWR( announced the opening of the Wadi Dayqah dam gate to release about 20 million cubic meters of water during 6 to 19 December 2022.

In a statement MAFWR said: The Ministry will open the Wadi Dayqah Dam to drain about 20mm cubic meters of water. The dam has a storage capacity of 100mm cubic meters and height of 75m.’ The ministry explained that the aim of opening the dam was to feed the underground reservoirs for the farms of the people of Daghamr and Hail al-Ghaf regions.

The ministry called on citizens to stay away from the wadi and adhere to safety instructions.

The farms village is about 25 km to the south from the center of the Wilayat of Quriyat, and it is famous for its different varieties of palm trees. The waters of this valley continue throughout the year. It is also an important source of farm falajs dating back to pre-Islam, such as the village falaj and the Mansaft falaj. The farms have ancient historical and heritage landmarks such as towers, cemeteries and caves.
