Wadi Shab considered as tourist area: MHT

Muscat: His Excellency Salem bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, issued Ministerial Resolution No. 1152/2/251/2023 considering the Wadi Shab region as a tourist area.

According to Article 1 stipulated that the Wadi Shab area, dimensions are specified in the attached appendix and map, and which is located in the Wilayat of Sur in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, is considered a tourist area.

With reference to the Tourism Law issued by Royal Decree No. 33/2002, Article No. (11) stipulates: The Ministry, in coordination with the concerned authorities, shall identify and list tourist areas and sites in the Sultanate, and follow up on the discovery of new areas and sites that can be exploited for tourism. A decision shall be issued by the Minister after the approval of the Council. Ministers. The Ministry supervises the exploitation and management of these areas and sites, organizes their administration and reconstruction, follows up on them, promotes their exploitation, and approves the necessary plans for this.

Article No. (12) of the Tourism Law stipulates that no natural or legal person may occupy any tourist site or area, or part thereof, or benefit from, exploit, or dispose of it, except with a license from the Ministry, and it is not permissible to establish, without a license from the Ministry, Any hotel or tourist facility, or its exploitation or management. The executive regulations regulate the conditions and procedures for granting licenses and the cases and conditions for their suspension and cancellation.
