Weather alert 2: Heavy thundershowers, Rainfall begins in parts of Oman

Oman’s CAA issued Weather alert (2) heavy thundershowers starting from today 21st March 2023 until Wednesday 22nd March 2023.

In a statement CAA said: Heavy thundershowers are expected to continue from today 21st March 2023 until Wednesday morning 22nd March 2023 over governorates of Dhofar, Al Waste gradually extend during afternoon over the Governorates of South al-Sharqiya, North al-Sharqiya, Al Dakhylia, Al Dhahran, Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Muscat and Musandam. Rainfall is expected to range between 10mm to 70mm ( within 24 hours) 

Expected Impacts:

Wadies flows over some areas occasionally associated with fresh downdraft winds and hails

Reduce in horizontal visibility during thundershowers to less than 1000 meters.

Sea state will be moderate to rough with maximum wave height ranging from 1.5 meters to 3.0 meters along the coasts of Arabian Sea and south Al Sharqiya Governorate.

The Civil Aviation Authority insists all to take precautions during thundershowers, avoid crossing Wadies, low land areas and sea activities.
