Weather Alert: Air trough likely to affect Oman from tomorrow

Muscat: The Civil Aviation Authority (CDAA) issued weather report (1) during 10 – 12 January 2023

The latest weather updates and analysis of the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Center indicate that an upper air trough will likely affect the Sultanate of Oman starting from tomorrow Tuesday 10th of January 2023 until Thursday morning 12th of January 2023.

Chance of clouds advection and isolated rain and occasional thundershowers over the governorates of Musandam, North Al Batinah and Al Buraimi. The impact is expected to gradually extend to cover the governorate of South Al Batinah, Muscat, Al Dakhiliya and South Al Sharqiya. 

Expected Impacts 

Accumulation of isolated rainfall ranging from 10 to 60 mm may cause ladies flow during Tuesday and Wednesday.

Fresh downdraft winds with speed of 15 to 25 kt ( 28-45km/h ).

Sea state will be moderate to rough along Musandam and the coastal areas of Oman Sea with maximum wave heigh ranging between 2 – 3 meters.

Civil Aviation Authority advices all to take precaution during rainfall and wadies flow and to check the visibility and sea state before sailing and follow the issued weather bulletins and reports.
