Weather Alert: Upper air trough to affect Oman starting Monday


The latest weather updates and analysis of the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Center indicate that an upper air trough is likely to affect the Sultanate of Oman starting from Monday 27th of March 2023 until Wednesday evening 29th of March 2023.

Clouds advection with isolated rain occasional thundershowers, are expected over the governorates of Musandam, Al Dhahran, Al Buraimi and Dhofar extend till Tuesday to cover the rest of governorates North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Dakhylia, Muscat, South Al Sharqiya, North Al Sharqiya and Al Wusta with occasionally thundershowers associated with downdraft wind and hail.

Expected Impacts:

Isolated rainfall, occasionally thundershowers, may cause wadies flow.

Fresh associated winds with speed of 15 to 35kt (28-64km/h)

Sea state will be moderate to rough along most of the coasts with maximum wave heigh ranging between 2 – 3 meters.

Civil Aviation Authority advices all to take precaution during rainfall and wadies flow and to check visibility and sea state before sailing and follow the issued weather bulletins and reports.
