Thumrait:  The Wilayat of Thumrait in Dhofar Governorate hosted a wheat harvesting day in Al Najd area today, as part of efforts to highlight the 2025–2026 agricultural season. The event was attended by Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Maawali, Wali of Thumrait.

The event comes within the framework of ongoing expansion in wheat cultivation and reflects continued support extended to farmers in recognition of their role in strengthening food security in the Sultanate of Oman.

The current season has witnessed the cultivation of multiple wheat varieties in Dhofar Governorate, including Najd 1 and Najd 2, as well as Australian varieties Qurayat 110, Qurayat 226 and Qurayat 308. These varieties have demonstrated adaptability to local environmental conditions.

The harvesting season is expected to continue for two months, supported by efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources. The Ministry is providing modern harvesting equipment, technical assistance and coordination with Oman Flour Mills Company to facilitate the receipt of crops from farmers.
